Strauss & Co’s inaugural Cape Town auction takes place on Thursday, October 8, at the Vineyard Hotel, Colinton Rd, Newlands, at 4pm and 8pm.
The auction includes four Irma Stern paintings. The most valuable of Stern’s work on auction, Still Life with Dahlias, is expected to go for between R3.5-million and R5-million.
The offerings on Thursday will also include works by JH Pierneef, Thomas Baines, Jan Ernst Volschenk and Maggie Laubser, whose Seascape with Boats, House and Seated Woman Holding a Baby is expected to go for between R400000 and R500000.
