Anna-Louise Felstead

Anna-Louise Felstead is a London based reportage artist and illustrator who draws and paints on location. Her work focuses on people within environments, ranging from day to day images of characters drinking coffee in Soho, to models being hastily prepared for the catwalks at London Fashion Week. She is inspired by unusual places and issue-based subjects and enjoys putting herself in situations where she wouldn’t normally be. Previous projects have included stints aboard HMS Cornwall and HMS Illustrious with the Royal Navy, where Anna-Louise documented scenes from a military life at sea which resulted in two solo exhibitions. Since graduating from The Royal College of Art in 2003 she has had her work published in many magazines and exhibited in various group and solo shows. Anna-Louise always captures something of the Naïve in the many and varied scenes she paints, often in situations normally documented by photographers. She travels the world in order to find new inspiration and has already documented the Cartier polo in St.Moritz and Dubai this year. Her recent trip to Cape Town enabled her to paint landscapes in Stellenbosch, Franschook and Kirstenbosch as well as images of people dining in restaurants in Camps Bay. She paints with ink on paper and her style varies between black and white line drawings to fully coloured paintings.
